Help me get to MY brother Marine Bootcamp Graduation
2014 I received a call that my mother was incarcerated. I live in Louisiana. Her and my brother lived in Tennessee. At that time my brother was only 14. Our mother has been in and out of jail and homeless many, many times. She is a crack and meth addict. Each and every time she was arrested my brother was taken into state custody and placed in a group home or a foster home. His childhood was TERRIBLE. I cannot go into details for his privacy but the stories will make you bawl.
So, in 2014 when she was yet again arrested her neighbor called me and informed me before the state could come get him. That same day I got the call I loaded up and drove 10 hours to Tennessee to figure out what I could do about getting him. I went to the courthouse and was waiting to talk with someone when God sent me an angel. It was a child custody lawyer. She asked me what I was there for, gave me papers to fill out and said be back at 2pm for court. When I returned to the courthouse the judge pulled out her files and slammed his fist on the table and said "Ms Williams, your daughter is here to pick up your son and take him to Louisiana with her. You now have two options. You can either sign over your rights or I will take them away." So in ONE day I was granted FULL LEGAL CUSTODY of this kid I knew NOTHING about. So we loaded up what we could and came back to Louisiana. I enrolled him in school he joined the wrestling program and has excelled so much in the past years. His senior year he won 4th place for Louisiana State wrestling championship. This kid has made a 360 turn around from what he was raised from. He graduated highschool May 2019 and left for Marine Boot camp June 2019. My wish is to be able to get myself and two daughters to Parris Island SC to be there for him for family day and his Marine Graduation October 11 2019.
Family day is Oct 10th. Please help grant my wish to be there for him. He needs me there.
