Military mom’s surprise homecoming goes viral
Arguably one of the most emotional videos taken at Camp Randall Stadium has nothing to do with a football game, and now it’s going viral.

The silent service hosted a homecoming Wednesday out west, with another scheduled for Friday on the East Coast as submarine crews return home in time for the holidays.
The attack submarine Hampton returned to San Diego on Wednesday after a six-month deployment in the Western Pacific, including port visits in Japan, Singapore, Guam and the Philippines.
The boat, one of six Los Angeles-class subs homeported in San Diego, left home June 18 following a series of training exercises off the California coast.
“I am proud of the tremendous effort the crew has put into being successful and for the support and encouragement from our great families,” Capt. Lincoln Reifsteck, Hampton’s commanding officer, said in a Thursday news release announcing the homecoming. “The men have done exceptionally well, and it shows.”
In the east, the attack submarine Missouri will return Friday to Naval Submarine Base New London, Conn., after its inaugural overseas deployment, which also began in mid-June. Port visits for the Virginia-class boat, which was commissioned in July 2010, included England, Scotland and Norway.
The submarine is the fifth Navy vessel to bear the name Missouri and the first since the battleship that hosted Japan’s surrender at the close of World War II.
Cmdr. Mike Luckett commanded the sub on its maiden deployment, having taken over in April 2012 from Cmdr. Tim Rexrode, who shepherded Missouri and its crew of more than 130 sailors crew through the commissioning process.
